2012-2013 HDHS Band Handbook


This school year, there will be quite a bit of involvement needed from the students.  In order to keep confusion down to a minimum, and to keep the parents “in the know,” I am attaching a link to a daily updated calendar.  Everything on this calendar will be Band related; such as Monday night practices, Friday night football games and locations, and UIL events.  Once again, in the event there are any questions, please call my office number that is listed above.   The link below will take you directly to the 2012-2013 Band Calendar.

2012-2013 Summer Band Schedule

Thursday, July 28 – 10:00am-12:00pm

Friday, July 29 – 10:00am-12:00pm

Beginning August 1, this will be the designated schedule:

Monday:  4:00pm-6:00pm Band Hall/6:00pm-8:00pm Practice Field

Tuesday:  4:00pm-6:00pm Band Hall/6:00pm-8:00pm Practice Field

Wednesday:  1:00pm-2:00pm Band Hall/2:00pm-3:00pm Practice Field

Thursday:  4:00pm-6:00pm Band Hall/6:00pm-8:00pm Practice Field

Friday:  TBA

 

First and foremost, attendance is MANDATORY!  I understand that there are some students who are involved in more than one extracurricular activity; i.e. football, volleyball, and cheerleading.  Please contact me before Summer Band begins so that we may discuss a workable schedule.  The following is a list of required daily supplies:

·        Instrument

·        Close toed shoes (ABSOUTELY NO FLIP FLOPS, SANDALS, OR BARE FEET!)

·        Music

·        Coordinate Chart (This will be provided upon arrival)

·        Water, Powerade, or Gatorade (No soft drinks)

I cannot stress how important it is to attend each and every practice.  We are planning on attending Marching Contest this year, and we will need 110% from every student and parent!  You must have your daily supplies at every rehearsal in order to participate.  All 2012-2013 consent forms will be passed out at the end of Summer Band and must be returned by the designated deadline.  I will not be able to accept 2011-2012 consent forms.  I look forward to seeing you at Summer Band.  I will be at the band hall periodically, throughout the remainder of the summer.  If there are any questions please contact me on the information given above.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!
